Lady Bay is a common name for a special area in South Australia. It is located near Normanville, about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) south of the town center. This place was once a small settlement with 21 simple holiday homes, called shacks.

Today, the area around the former shack site is home to "The Links Lady Bay" resort. This resort includes a hotel, a golf course, and a large area with about 1,100 homes.

History of Lady Bay

Lady Bay was once a small community of holiday shacks. These shacks were simple buildings, often used for vacations by the beach. The settlement started around 1959. It was officially ended in 1988.

In 2008, a company that owned land in the area wanted to create a new official place called "Lady Bay." This new place would have been separated from Normanville by the Bungala River. However, many people living in Normanville did not agree with this idea. Because of their strong opposition, the company stopped its plan in November 2009.

Nature at Lady Bay

The mouth of the Yankalilla River is located at Lady Bay. This is where the river flows into the sea. Rivers are important for the environment and often create beautiful landscapes where they meet the ocean.
