Catherine and her sisters were all very well-educated. This was unusual for women during their time. Catherine was especially good at languages. She could read and write in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. Imagine learning all those languages!

Her Life and Family

Lady Catherine married Sir Henry Killigrew on November 4, 1565. They had four daughters who grew up healthy. Catherine often used her intelligence and connections to help her family.

For example, she once wrote a letter in Latin to her sister Mildred. In the letter, she asked Mildred to use her influence. Catherine wanted to help her husband avoid a difficult trip to France. This shows how smart and helpful Catherine was.

Her Later Years

Catherine Killigrew passed away on December 27, 1583. She was buried in the church of St. Thomas the Apostle in London. Sadly, this church was later destroyed in the great fire of London. However, some of the Latin writings from her monument were saved. These writings included one she wrote herself!
