Lady Margaret Elizabeth Montagu Douglas Scott (born October 10, 1846 – died February 5, 1918) was a Scottish noblewoman. She was also known as Lady Margaret Scott.

Early Life and Family
Lady Margaret Scott was born in 1846 at Dalkeith Palace in Scotland. Her father was Walter Montagu Douglas Scott, 5th Duke of Buccleuch. He was an important Scottish noble, politician, and landowner. Her mother was Lady Charlotte Thynne. Lady Charlotte was the daughter of the 2nd Marquess of Bath.
Not much is known about Lady Margaret's early life before she got married. However, we do know she was a bridesmaid at a royal wedding. This was in July 1866, when Princess Helena of the United Kingdom married Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein.
Marriage and Family Life
On December 9, 1875, Lady Margaret married Donald Cameron of Lochiel at Dalkeith. He was a diplomat and politician. He was also the 24th Chief of Clan Cameron, a famous Scottish clan.
After her marriage, she became known as Lady Margaret Cameron of Lochiel. She lived with her husband at Achnacarry Castle in the Scottish Highlands. Lady Margaret and Donald had four sons:
- Sir Donald Walter Cameron of Lochiel (born 1876 – died 1951)
- Ewen Charles Cameron (born 1878 – died 1958)
- Allan George Cameron (born 1880 – died 1914)
- Archibald Cameron (born 1886 – died 1917)
All four of her sons fought in the First World War. Sadly, her two youngest sons, Allan and Archibald, died during the war. Allan died in 1914 and Archibald in 1917.
Lady Margaret became a widow in 1905 when her husband passed away. She suffered from arthritis, a condition that causes joint pain. Lady Margaret died on February 5, 1918, from the Spanish flu.
Achievements in Sport
Lady Margaret Scott was also a talented golfer. She is the only woman to win the oldest amateur golf major three years in a row. This championship is called The Women's Amateur Championship. She won it in 1893, 1894, and 1895.

Lady Margaret is the main character in a historical romance novel. The book is called Her Heart for a Compass. It was written by Sarah, Duchess of York. In the story, Lady Margaret leaves her family. She travels to Ireland and then to New York. Eventually, she marries Lochiel. Sarah, Duchess of York, is actually a distant relative of Lady Margaret.
