Lagoon-A-Beach facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Lagoon-A-Beach is a fun water park located inside the famous Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington, Utah. It's a great place to cool off and have a blast on a hot day! The park has ten different water slides. These slides are split into three main types: tube slides, body slides, and drop slides. The name "Lagoon-A-Beach" sounds a bit like Laguna Beach, California, which is a famous beach city.

Tube Slides: Ride with a Tube!

These slides are special because you need to ride them while sitting in an inner tube. You can rent inner tubes for a small fee for the whole day. When you return the tube, you might even get a coupon for a drink!

  • Back Door: The Back Door is a blue slide. It twists and turns right alongside another slide called Sea Snake.
  • Outrigger: The Outrigger is a really unique tube slide. At the very top, you sit in your inner tube in a big pool of water. A lifeguard helps guide your tube towards the slide. After you go down the first slide, you land in another pool. Another lifeguard then helps you onto the next slide. This ride takes you through five slides and six pools of water in total! It's a great way to get lots of water time.

Body Slides: Just You and the Slide!

Body slides are rides where you slide down without a tube, usually on your back or stomach.

  • Pipeline: The Pipeline slide is forty feet tall! Many visitors really enjoy this ride at Lagoon-A-Beach. It's a popular choice for those who love a good slide.
  • Wipeout: This slide is super exciting because it has one big loop that spins you around clockwise. Riders often go very fast on Wipeout. This is because of something called centrifugal force, which pushes you outwards as you go around the curve.
  • Twist: This slide is named "Twist" because it actually twists around another water slide. That other slide is called "Shout."
  • Shout: People on the Shout water slide usually go very fast. Towards the end of the ride, you go through many twists and turns. You might feel yourself being thrown from side to side quickly. Some people find this really exciting and thrilling!
  • Sea Snake: The Sea Snake is the tallest body slide at Lagoon-A-Beach. Just like its name suggests, this slide has many twists and turns, making it feel like a winding snake.
  • Rip Curl: This slide is the newest one at Lagoon-A-Beach. It goes past tall trees and has parts that are fully enclosed (dark tunnels) and parts that are open to the sky.

Drop Slides: Get Ready to Plunge!

These slides are known for their big, fast drops that give you a thrilling feeling.

  • Liquid Lightning: This slide is mostly about one big, fast drop. It's all about speed and the exciting plunge!
  • The Drop: Like Liquid Lightning, this ride ends with a very long drop. But before you plummet down, you go through several twists and turns. These parts are similar to what you'd find on a regular water slide, adding to the fun before the big splash.
