Laird Hill is a small place in Rusk County, Texas, in the United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is a town that does not have its own local government. In the year 2000, about 405 people lived there. Laird Hill is part of the larger Longview, Texas metropolitan area.

The Story of Laird Hill
The area now known as Laird Hill got its name from a family who settled there long ago. At first, during the exciting time of the East Texas oil boom, it was called Pistol Hill. This was when a lot of oil was discovered in the region.
In 1936, the community got its first post office. Ignatius S. Crutcher was the first person in charge of it. By 1940, about 500 people lived in Laird Hill, and there were eight businesses. The number of people living there changed over the years. In 1970, the population was 461 with four businesses. From 1980 to 2000, about 405 people lived in Laird Hill. The number of businesses went up from one to five during that time.
On April 25, 1957, a strong tornado, called an F3 tornado, hit the community.
Where is Laird Hill Located?
Laird Hill is found in the northwestern part of Rusk County. It is located on Texas State Highway 42. This is just southwest of the city of Kilgore. The community is also near Texas State Highway 135 and Farm to Market Road 2012.

Students in the Laird Hill area go to school in two different school districts. These are the Leverett's Chapel Independent School District and the Kilgore Independent School District.
