Lake Echo is a beautiful, nearly round freshwater lake. It is located in Lake Alfred, Florida. The lake covers an area of about 68.92 acres (28 ha).
Imagine a lake surrounded by different things! On its north, east, and part of its south sides, you'll find homes. To the west and southwest, there are green citrus groves. These are where oranges and other fruits grow. The southeast side has a peaceful wooded area. Another lake, Lake Cummings, is just 360 feet (110 m) to the west.
Exploring Lake Echo
Public Access Points
You can visit Lake Echo at two special spots! One is on the northwest side of the lake. It is at the end of South Winona Avenue. Here, you will find the Lake Echo Boat Ramp. This spot has a public boat ramp. It also has a public fishing dock, which is great for fishing or tying up a boat.
The second spot is on the south side of the lake. It is at the end of South Nekoma Avenue. This area is called the Echo Terrace Dock. It has another public fishing dock. There is also a picnic table, perfect for a snack or lunch. Lake Echo does not have a public swimming beach.
Connecting to Other Lakes
On the southeast side of Lake Echo, there is a canal. This canal connects to nearby Lake Rochelle. However, this canal is not always full of water. This means boats cannot always travel through it.
Even so, because Lake Echo is connected to Lake Rochelle by this canal, it is part of a bigger system. It belongs to the northern part of the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes. This is a group of lakes connected by canals.
