What is Lake Malone?
Lake Malone is a type of lake called a reservoir. A reservoir is a special kind of lake that is created by people. It is made by building a dam across a river or stream. This dam holds back the water, forming a large body of water behind it.
How Lake Malone Was Formed
Lake Malone was created in 1961. It was made by building a dam across a stream called Rocky Creek. This dam helped to collect water and form the lake we see today.
The Story Behind the Name
The lake was named after a very kind couple, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace C. Malone. They generously donated a large piece of land. This land was used to help create the lake. Because of their gift, the lake was named in their honor.
