Lake Trenche is a beautiful lake found in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Canada. It's in a wild, undeveloped area called Lac-Ashuapmushuan. The lake is completely surrounded by forests, making it a peaceful natural spot.

Exploring Lake Trenche

Lake Trenche is a natural part of the Trenche River. This river flows from north to south. Eventually, it empties into Lake Tourouvre. Lake Tourouvre is created by the Trenche Dam on the Saint-Maurice River.

Shape and Features

Lake Trenche has a very interesting and unusual shape. It has many islands and peninsulas. These are pieces of land that stick out into the water. There are also many bays, which are curved parts of the shoreline. The lake's shape looks a bit like the letter "Y". It seems to be made up of several smaller lakes joined together.

Water Flow

The lake gets its water from two main parts in the north. One part is from the northwest. The other, more important part, is from the northeast. This northeast branch is actually an extension of the Trenche River. The river flows into the lake from north to south.

Getting There

You can reach Lake Trenche by using special forest paths. These paths were made by a company called Consolidated Bathurst. They generally follow the route of the Trenche River. The Trenche River is one of the five biggest rivers that flow into the Saint-Maurice River.

Winter at the Lake

Since the lake is in a forest area, its surface freezes over in winter. This usually happens from November until early April.
