Lake Victor is a small place in Burnet County, Texas, United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is not a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it is part of the larger county. In 2000, about 215 people lived there.

History of Lake Victor

The story of Lake Victor began around 1901 or 1902. This was when the Houston and Texas Central Railway built a train track through the area. Lake Victor became a stop for the trains. The community got its name from a nearby lake. This lake was created when dirt was dug out for the railroad. It was named after Victor Kellogg, who was a foreman for the railroad workers.

In 1903, the land was measured and divided into lots. These lots were then sold to people who wanted to settle there. A post office opened in Lake Victor that same year. Frank A. Ramsey was the first person in charge of the post office. It stayed open until 1957. After that, people in Lake Victor received their mail from the nearby town of Lampasas.

For more than 25 years, Lake Victor was a successful place for farming and ranching. By 1914, about 200 people lived there. The community had three churches and several businesses. By 1925, the population grew to 250 people.

However, growth slowed down because of big events like the Great Depression and World War II. The number of people living in Lake Victor stayed about the same during the 1960s. But some businesses in the area closed down. The Texas and New Orleans Railroad stopped using its track from Burnet to Lampasas in 1951.

The population changed over the years. It grew to 350 people in 1966. Then it dropped to 300 in 1968 and 200 in 1972. From the 1980s through 2000, about 215 people lived in Lake Victor.

Lake Victor also has a Masonic lodge. This is a local club or organization that was started in December 1909.
