Lakis Petropoulos (born August 29, 1932 – died June 30, 1996) was a famous Greek football player and coach. His full name was Vasilios Petropoulos. He was born in Athens, Greece, and passed away in the USA.

Lakis Petropoulos: A Football Player
Lakis Petropoulos was a talented football player. He played as a midfielder. He spent most of his playing career with Panathinaikos. He played for them from 1950 to 1963. During his time with Panathinaikos, he helped the team win the Greek championship three times. These wins were in 1953, 1960, and 1961. Lakis also played for the Greek national team. He played in 3 international matches between 1953 and 1957. He was even part of the Greek team for the 1952 Olympic Games. However, he did not get to play in any games during the Olympics.

After he stopped playing football, Lakis Petropoulos became a coach. He coached many different teams and the Greek national team.
Coaching Panathinaikos
Lakis started as an assistant coach at Panathinaikos. Later, he became the head coach in 1968. He led Panathinaikos from 1968 to 1970. During this time, his team won both the Greek championship and the Greek Cup in 1969. This is called a "double". They also won another Greek championship in 1970.
Coaching Olympiacos
From 1972 to 1975, Lakis Petropoulos coached Olympiacos. He helped Olympiacos win three championships in a row! This was a great achievement for the team.
Coaching Other Teams
Lakis Petropoulos also coached many other football clubs. These included Iraklis Thessaloniki, Cercle Brugge in Belgium, PAOK, Panionios, Apollon Smyrnis, OFI Crete, and Anorthosis Famagusta in Cyprus. He also had several periods coaching the Greek national team.
