Lambert C. Boissiere III was born on August 23, 1965. He is an American politician and a former law enforcement officer. From 2005 to 2022, he served as a member of the Louisiana Public Service Commission. This commission helps make sure that important services like electricity and water are fair for everyone. Boissiere represented many areas in Louisiana, including parts of East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, and Orleans parishes.

Education and Early Life

Lambert C. Boissiere III studied at Southern University at New Orleans. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from this university. His father, Lambert Boissiere, Jr., was also involved in public service. From 1981 to 1994, his father was a member of the New Orleans City Council.

Serving the Public

Constable of New Orleans

Before joining the Public Service Commission, Lambert C. Boissiere III worked in law enforcement. From 1997 to 2005, he served as a constable for the First City Court of New Orleans. A constable is an officer who helps keep the peace and carries out court orders.

Louisiana Public Service Commission

In 2004, Boissiere was elected to the Louisiana Public Service Commission. This commission is very important because it oversees public utilities. These are services like electricity, natural gas, water, and telephone companies. The commission makes sure these services are reliable and that their prices are fair for customers.

Boissiere was re-elected to his position in 2011 and again in 2016. During his time on the commission, new rules about term limits were put in place. However, because he was elected before these rules, they did not affect his first term.

Working for Louisiana's Future

In 2022, Boissiere and his fellow commissioners worked on a 5-Year Strategic Plan. This plan had several important goals:

  • To create fair and new ways for customers to pay for services.
  • To help build modern and strong infrastructure for Louisiana's businesses and people.
  • To make it easier for people to find information and records from the Public Service Commission online.
  • To teach consumers about utility issues and protect their interests.

Boissiere was also a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC). This group works to improve how public utilities are regulated across the country. As a member, Boissiere helped ensure that utility services were fair and available to all consumers.

End of Service

In December 2022, Lambert C. Boissiere III ran for re-election to the Public Service Commission. He was defeated in a runoff election by Davante Lewis. Lewis focused his campaign on increasing the use of renewable energy.
