Lancaster Gordon was born on June 24, 1962. He is a former American professional basketball player. He was known for being a talented guard during his time playing college basketball.
Gordon played college basketball at the University of Louisville from 1980 to 1984. He was a standout player there. In 1983, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the NCAA Mideast Regional tournament. This was a big achievement for him and his team.
Playing in the NBA
After his successful college career, Lancaster Gordon was chosen by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1984 NBA draft. He was the 8th player picked overall in the first round. This meant he was one of the top young basketball players in the country.
Gordon played for the Clippers for four seasons, from 1984 to 1988. During his time in the NBA, he played in 201 games. He scored a total of 1,125 points for the Clippers. He averaged about 5.6 points per game during his NBA career.
Playing in the CBA
After his time in the NBA, Gordon also played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). The CBA was another professional basketball league in the United States. He played parts of three seasons there, from 1988 to 1991.
In the CBA, he played for a few different teams. These included the Pensacola Tornados, the La Crosse Catbirds, and the Sioux Falls Skyforce. He averaged 8.2 points per game across 39 games in the CBA. In 1990, he achieved a major success by winning a CBA championship with the La Crosse Catbirds.
