Lane Weston Adams (born November 13, 1989) is an American former professional baseball player. He played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Kansas City Royals and Atlanta Braves.

Lane Adams' Early Life
Lane Adams grew up in Red Oak, Oklahoma. He is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, a Native American tribe.
Adams went to Red Oak High School. He was a talented basketball player for his school team. He scored 3,251 points during his high school career. This made him one of the top scorers in Oklahoma high school basketball history. He was also very good at free throws, making 93.7% of them in his junior year. He had planned to play basketball at Missouri State University on a scholarship.
Lane Adams' Baseball Career
Playing for the Kansas City Royals
The Kansas City Royals chose Lane in the 13th round of the 2009 MLB Draft. He decided to play professional baseball instead of going to college. He signed a contract with the Royals for $225,000.
In 2012, Lane was named a Mid-Season All-Star in the Midwest League. The next year, in 2013, he played for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. He was recognized as a Royals’ Minor League Player of the Year. After the 2013 season, the Royals added him to their main roster of players.
In 2014, playing again for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, he had a batting average of .269. He also stole 38 bases, which was the third-highest in his league. On September 1, 2014, the Royals called Adams up to the major leagues. He made his first MLB appearance that night. He entered the game as a pinch runner for the Royals.
In 2015, he continued to play for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. He batted .298 and stole 29 bases. The Royals released him in November 2015.
Time with the New York Yankees
After the 2015 season, the New York Yankees picked up Adams. In 2016, he played for the Trenton Thunder. He batted .253 and successfully stole 31 bases. The Yankees released him on July 28, 2016. At 26 years old, he thought about stopping his baseball career.
Joining the Chicago Cubs
On August 3, 2016, Adams signed a contract with the Chicago Cubs. He played for the Tennessee Smokies. He batted .325 and stole 9 bases without being caught. After the season, he became a free agent in November.
Playing for the Atlanta Braves
Adams signed a contract with the Atlanta Braves on December 13, 2016. The Braves manager, Brian Snitker, admitted he didn't know who Lane was at first. In 2017, Lane played for the Gwinnett Stripers. He batted .264 and stole 15 bases.
The Braves brought him up to the Major Leagues on April 25, 2017. Four days later, he got his first major league hit. On June 22, he hit his first major league home run. It was a three-run home run. On September 10, Adams hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the 11th inning. This means his home run won the game for his team. For the 2017 season with the Braves, he batted .275 and successfully stole all 10 of his base attempts.
On April 19, 2018, the Braves removed Adams from their main roster. He chose to become a free agent instead of going back to the minor leagues.
Second Time with the Chicago Cubs
On May 5, 2018, Adams signed another contract with the Chicago Cubs. He played well for the Double-A Tennessee Smokies, batting .325. He was released by the Cubs on June 30.
Second Time with the Atlanta Braves
On July 16, 2018, Adams signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves again. He was called up to the major leagues on September 1. In 2018, he batted .240 with one stolen base for the Braves. He became a free agent again in November.
By the end of 2018, Lane Adams had a major league batting average of .263. He had stolen 11 bases without being caught. In his minor league career, he had stolen 235 bases.
Time with the Philadelphia Phillies
On January 14, 2019, Adams signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. He played for the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs. He batted .255 with 12 home runs and 29 RBIs. He also stole eight bases. He was released on July 1, 2019.
Third Time with the Atlanta Braves
On July 31, 2019, Adams signed a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves for a third time. He played 18 games for the Double-A Mississippi Braves. He became a free agent in November.
Playing for the Minnesota Twins
On February 17, 2020, Adams signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins. He did not play in 2020 because the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He became a free agent in November.
Playing in Mexico
On May 20, 2021, Adams signed with the Acereros de Monclova in the Mexican League. He batted .263 in 26 games. He was released on June 21.
On June 24, 2021, Adams signed with the Tigres de Quintana Roo, also in the Mexican League. He played 9 games for them.
Lane Adams retired from professional baseball after the 2021 season. He later became a private hitting instructor, teaching others how to bat.
