Early Life and Music Beginnings
Lane McCray served in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in different places around the world. Even while in the military, Lane was a talented performer. He acted in many musical theater shows across the U.S. These included famous plays like West Side Story and A Chorus Line.
McCray decided to leave the Air Force to focus on his music career. He moved to Saarbrücken, Germany. There, he met Melanie Thornton (1967–2001). They both sang in a band called Groovin' Affairs. Soon after, they formed the very successful group La Bouche.
La Bouche and Solo Career
La Bouche became well-known for their Eurodance hits. After Melanie Thornton sadly passed away in a plane accident in 2001, Lane took a break from music. He needed time to grieve for his friend and music partner.
Around 2015, Lane started working with new singers for La Bouche. These singers included Dana Rayne, Timi Kullai, and Sophie Cairo. Lane remained the main focus of the group.
In September 2019, Lane planned to release new music with La Bouche. He wanted to put out a new single and then a full album.
By 2020, McCray began a new music journey under his own name, "MCCRAY." His first song released by McCray Records was called "Save My Life." He explained that he enjoys many different types of music. MCCRAY's newest song, "I Keep Running," came out on October 1, 2021.
