Town hall is located in the town center, which is the unincorporated community of Laona

Laona is a small town in Forest County, Wisconsin, in the United States. In 2010, about 1,212 people lived there. A smaller area called Laona (CDP) is also part of the town. Another small community, Blackwell Junction, is partly located here too.

History of Laona

Laona was first planned out in 1899. This happened when a railroad line was built to reach that spot. The town was named after the daughter of a local businessman. A post office has been open in Laona since 1900.

Laona is a town with a total area of about 107.5 square miles (278.5 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 103.4 square miles (267.8 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 4.2 square miles (10.7 square kilometers), is water.

The town is located at a latitude of 45.564 degrees North and a longitude of -88.673 degrees West. Laona is in the Central Standard time zone. The elevation of the town is about 1,572 feet (479 meters) above sea level.

In the winter, Laona becomes a snowmobiling paradise. It's home to the "100 Mile Snow Safari," also known as the "100 miler." This is one of Wisconsin's oldest and most famous snowmobiling trails.

The trail offers nearly 100 miles (160 kilometers) of riding. You'll go through beautiful, untouched forests and past many undeveloped lakes. It's a well-kept trail system. This makes it a very popular place for snowmobiling in Wisconsin.
