Larry Dwight Hall (born September 18, 1955) is an American politician. A politician is someone who works in government to help make decisions for the public. Mr. Hall was a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for many years. He also served as the Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs from 2017 to 2021. This means he was in charge of helping military members and veterans in North Carolina. He worked under Governor Roy Cooper.
Mr. Hall is a member of the Democratic Party. He represented the 29th House district in Durham, North Carolina, from 2006 to 2017. He was first chosen for this role in 2006 by Governor Mike Easley. The 29th District is home to several important places. These include North Carolina Central University, Duke University, and the Durham Performing Arts Center.
Larry Hall is also the leader of the North Carolina Legislative Black Caucus Scholarship Foundation. This group helps students get scholarships for college. He also served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.

Larry Hall represented Durham County, North Carolina, in the House of Representatives. He served from 2006 to 2017. He also led the House Democrats, who are members of the Democratic Party, from 2012 to 2017. Mr. Hall grew up in the district he represented and went to public schools.
He earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Political Science and Business from Johnson C. Smith University. He also earned a law degree (J.D.) from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After college, he became an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
Military Service
Mr. Hall served 16 years in the United States Marines and Marine Corps Reserves. He was a decorated officer, meaning he received awards for his service. He helped with operations in the Middle East, including in Lebanon and Iran.
He received several awards for his military service. These include the Navy Achievement Medal and the Marine Corps Reserve Medal. He held many important roles in the Marines. He was a Rifle Platoon Commander and a Legal Officer. He also helped Marines move from active duty back to civilian life. He helped them find jobs, homes, and educational chances for their families.
Community Involvement
Larry Hall is very active in his community. He has been a leader in the Durham Branch of the NAACP. The NAACP works for equal rights for all people. He also served on the Durham Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. This group helps local businesses.
