Larry O'Bannon (born August 15, 1983) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for Hispano Americano in Argentina's top league, the Liga Nacional de Básquet (LNB). Larry is known for playing both point guard and shooting guard. Before turning pro, he played college basketball for the University of Louisville.

Early Life and School

Larry O'Bannon grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He went to Jefferson County Traditional Middle School. Later, he attended Male High School. At Male High, he was a talented athlete. He played both basketball and ran track and field.

Larry played basketball with Michael Bush in both middle school and high school. Michael Bush later became a running back in the NFL. Larry also has a sister who works as a teacher.

College Basketball Career

Larry O'Bannon played college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals. This was from 2001 to 2005. His team, the Louisville Cardinals, had a great season in 2005. They made it to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. This is a huge achievement in college basketball.

During that tournament, Larry played incredibly well. He was named the Regional MVP. This means he was the most valuable player in his section of the tournament.

Professional Basketball Journey

After college, Larry O'Bannon was not chosen in the 2005 NBA draft. However, he still got a chance to play professionally. In the summer of 2005, he played for NBA teams like the Seattle SuperSonics and the Golden State Warriors. He joined their Summer League teams.

Starting in Europe

In August 2005, Larry signed his first professional contract. He joined a Serbian club called Crvena zvezda. He played there for one season. With this team, he helped them win the Serbian Cup. This was his first major professional title.

In September 2007, Larry moved to Italy. He signed with Amatori Udine. This team played in Italy's top league, the Serie A. In February 2007, he moved to another Italian team, Basket Napoli.

Later in 2007, Larry played in the NBA Summer League again. This time, he was with the Denver Nuggets. For the 2007–08 season, he started with AGO Rethymno in Greece. After playing seven games, he left the team. In December 2007, he signed with a Bulgarian club, Lukoil Academic. He finished that season with them.

Playing in Israel and South America

In January 2009, Larry signed with an Israeli team. It was Maccabi Rishon LeZion. He played there for the rest of that season. He liked it so much that he signed with them again in August 2009 for another year.

In May 2010, Larry went to Venezuela. He joined Marinos de Anzoátegui. This was for the end of their 2010 season. In September 2010, he returned to Israel. He signed with Maccabi Haifa. He played there until February 2011.

After leaving Maccabi Haifa, he moved to Argentina. In February 2011, he signed with Boca Juniors. He played with them for the 2011–12 season. In April 2012, he briefly played one game for Club Atlético Lanús.

Later Career and Return to Argentina

In July 2012, Larry signed with SAV Vacallo Basket in Switzerland. In February 2013, he moved back to Israel. He joined Hapoel Eilat for the rest of the season.

In August 2013, he signed with Sharks Antibes in France. In January 2014, he left France. He signed with a Russian club, Krasnye Krylia.

In September 2014, Larry returned to his former team, Maccabi Rishon LeZion. However, he only played three games. In November 2014, he moved to another Israeli team. He joined Hapoel Tel Aviv for the 2014–15 season. In his very first game for Hapoel, he scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. This was a fantastic debut!

In August 2015, Larry signed with San Martín de Corrientes in Argentina. He played there for the 2015–16 season. In November 2016, he signed with Hispano Americano. This is another team in Argentina, where he continues to play.
