Las Palas is a small village located in the region of Murcia in southeastern Spain. Its name, "Las Palas," comes from the many "palas" (which means cactus plants) found in the area. This village has been around for a long time, since the 1500s!

You can find Las Palas about 7 kilometers (about 4 miles) south of Fuente Álamo de Murcia. It's also about 20 kilometers (about 12 miles) northwest of the larger city of Cartagena.

Las Palas is home to around 300 houses. Most of the people living here (about 95%) are Spanish. There are also some people who have moved here from France and England.

Jobs and Daily Life

Most of the jobs in Las Palas and the nearby areas are in farming. People work with crops and other agricultural activities. The village has a few shops where residents can buy what they need. There is also a small church named San Pedro Apóstol, which means Saint Peter the Apostle.

The History of Windmills

In the past, there were many windmills in and around Las Palas. These windmills were very important because they were used to grind wheat into flour. The road that goes from Las Palas to Fuente Álamo is even known by local people as the "Road of country windmills." This shows how important these windmills once were to the area.
