Where is Lasaosa?
Lasaosa is found in the Province of Huesca in Spain. It is part of the larger area called Sabiñánigo. The village sits in the scenic Valley of the Guarguera. It is surrounded by nature.
Bringing Lasaosa Back to Life
Lasaosa was mostly empty for many years. People started leaving in the 1960s and 1970s. By 1976, farming had stopped. However, some former residents always kept a connection to the village.
Today, Lasaosa is being rebuilt. Houses are being fixed up. People are also working to improve the village's basic services. This includes things like roads and water. In October 2007, the village celebrated a special event. It was the feast of the Virgen del Rosario. This was the first time it had been celebrated in 35 years! This shows how much life is returning to Lasaosa.
Old Buildings and History
Lasaosa has some very old buildings. There is a church that is now in ruins. There was also an old abbey, which was a type of monastery. This abbey was built in the 1500s. It is now also demolished.
However, some unique old buildings still stand. These include the old blacksmith's shop. There is also an old bread oven. These buildings give us a peek into what life was like in Lasaosa long ago.
The Mysterious Dolmen
Near Lasaosa, you can find a very old monument. It is called the Lasaosa Dolmen. A dolmen is a type of ancient tomb. It is made of large stones. People sometimes call it the booth bruxas. This means "house of witches".
This dolmen is quite large. It is about 2 meters by 1.5 meters wide. It stands 1.7 meters high. When it was discovered, several bodies were found inside. Some old tools were also found.
The Lasaosa Dolmen was found in 1949. It was studied in 1953. Scientists believe it is older than 4,000 BC. This makes it a very important monument from the Neolithic Age. The Neolithic Age was a time when people started farming.
