History of Lasonston
Lasonston was "founded" in December 1902. A person named Lason Bufferbee and his family were the first to settle there. At first, the area was just a stopping point for hikers. These hikers were traveling through the North Moccasin Mountain pass.
Bufferbee and his family saw a chance to start a business. They decided to stay and sell goods to the backpackers. Their business was successful, which encouraged others to move to the area. However, because the town was quite isolated, its population always remained very small.
