Lateef Kenneth Daumont, known by his stage name Lateef the Truthspeaker, is a hip hop artist from Oakland, California. He is part of several hip hop groups like Latyrx and The Mighty Underdogs. He was also a member of the SoleSides music group and helped start Quannum Projects.

About Lateef the Truthspeaker

Lateef grew up in East Oakland. His father worked to protect the Black Panthers, a group that fought for civil rights. His mother, a medic for the Panthers, was friends with Angela Davis, another important civil rights activist. Lateef has both African American and Puerto Rican family roots.

He started making music in 1994. Over the years, he has released several music collections called mixtapes. These include Ahead of the Curve (2007) and Truth Is Love (2009).

Lateef's Solo Album

Lateef's first solo album is called Firewire. It came out in 2011. Many other artists helped with this album, like Chief Xcel, Del the Funky Homosapien, the Grouch, and DJ Shadow.
