Lateef Kenneth Daumont, known by his stage name Lateef the Truthspeaker, is a hip hop artist from Oakland, California. He is a talented rapper and a member of several music groups. These groups include Latyrx, Lateef and the Chief, and The Mighty Underdogs. He was also part of the SoleSides music group and helped start Quannum Projects.

Life and Music Career

Lateef grew up in East Oakland. His father worked as security for the Black Panthers, a group that worked for civil rights for African Americans. His mother was a medic for the Panthers and worked with Angela Davis on political ideas. Lateef has both African American and Puerto Rican family roots.

He has released several music collections called mixtapes. Some of these include Ahead of the Curve (2007), Truth Is Love (2009), and Truth at Sea (2011).

Lateef's first solo album, Firewire, came out in 2011. Many other artists helped him on this album. These include Chief Xcel, Del the Funky Homosapien, the Grouch, Lyrics Born, Dan the Automator, and DJ Shadow. He also sang on popular songs like "Wonderful Night" and "That Old Pair of Jeans" by Fatboy Slim.
