About Laura Andel
Laura Andel was born in Argentina and has family roots from Moldova. She started her music journey very early, taking lessons in Buenos Aires when she was just five years old. As a child, she played woodwind instruments and began writing her own music.
She studied at the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda in Buenos Aires, where she earned a degree in Tango performance. In January 1993, she moved to Boston to study jazz composition and music for films at the famous Berklee College of Music.
After finishing her studies, Andel moved to New York City in 2000. There, she has worked as a composer and conductor. She leads her own group, the Laura Andel Orchestra. She has conducted her music in many major cities around the world, including New York, Boston, Buenos Aires, Caracas, and Berlin.
Today, Laura Andel is also a professor at Hostos Community College, which is part of the City University of New York in the Bronx.
