About Laura Andel
Laura Andel was born in Argentina. She has family roots from Moldova. She started learning music in Buenos Aires when she was just five years old. As a child, she played woodwind instruments. She also began writing her own music at a young age.
Laura studied Tango performance in Buenos Aires. Later, in 1993, she went to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, she learned about jazz composition and how to write music for movies.
After finishing her studies, Laura moved to New York City in 2000. She works there as a composer and conductor. She leads her own group, the Laura Andel Orchestra. She has led her music in many cities. These include New York, Boston, Buenos Aires, Caracas, and Berlin.
Today, Laura is also a professor. She teaches at Hostos Community College in New York.
