Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen (born in 1969 or 1970) is an American educator and author. She is known for her work in philanthropy, which means helping others and giving to good causes.

She started the Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen Foundation. This foundation works like an "innovation lab" for giving. She also created the Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2). This fund helps new ideas that aim to make the world better. Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen also wrote a book called Giving 2.0: Transform Your Giving and Our World.

Early Life and Education

Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen was born in Palo Alto, California. Her mother was Frances C. Arrillaga, and her father is John Arrillaga, Sr., a very successful real estate developer.

She studied at Stanford University. She earned several degrees there. She received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art History in 1992. Later, she earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1997. She also got a Master of Education (MA) in 1998 and another Master of Arts (MA) in Art History in 1999.

Her Work and Contributions

While she was studying for her MBA at Stanford, Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen came up with a plan. She wanted to create an organization that would teach people about giving. This organization would also give money to good causes. It would use strategies similar to how venture capital firms invest.

Starting SV2

This idea led to the creation of the Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2). Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen founded SV2 in 1998. She was the chairman of SV2 until 2008. Today, she is still involved as its chairman emeritus.

Teaching and Research

In 2006, she founded Stanford PACS. This is a research center focused on philanthropy and civil society. She was the board chairman of Stanford PACS. She stopped leading PACS in 2024.

Since 2000, she has been a teacher at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She teaches classes about philanthropy. She also teaches about leadership.

Writing About Giving

In 2011, her book Giving 2.0: Transform Your Giving and Our World was published. She also writes articles about philanthropy. Her articles have appeared in The Huffington Post and other publications.
