Laura Malcolm, born on May 20, 1991, is a talented English netball player. She used to be a co-captain for the England national team. In her club career, she played for teams like Manchester Thunder, Severn Stars, and most recently, Mainland Tactix in New Zealand. Laura announced her retirement from netball in June 2024.

Playing for Clubs

Laura Malcolm played for two main teams in the Netball Superleague: Manchester Thunder and Severn Stars. She first won the Superleague title with Manchester Thunder in 2014.

In 2017, Laura moved from Thunder to join Severn Stars. She quickly became the captain of the Severn Stars team. After two seasons, she returned to Manchester Thunder for the 2019 season.

Laura helped Manchester Thunder win the Netball Superleague again in 2019. Her great performance led to her being named in the 2021 Netball Superleague Team of the Year. In September 2021, she signed a new two-year contract with Thunder.

In June 2022, Laura shared that she was leaving Manchester Thunder to play netball overseas. She then signed with the New Zealand team Mainland Tactix for the 2023 ANZ Premiership season. In June 2024, Laura Malcolm announced that she was retiring from playing netball. After retiring, she became a coach for Manchester Thunder.

Playing for England

Laura Malcolm first played for the England national netball team in 2012. Her first match was against the Barbados team. Before this, she had been part of the England squad for the 2011 World Netball Series. Laura also announced her retirement from international netball in June 2024.

In 2019, she was chosen as the vice-captain for England's tour of South Africa. She also served as vice-captain during the 2020 Netball Nations Cup. Later, she was named co-captain alongside Serena Guthrie for the 2020 Taini Jamison Trophy Series.

By March 2021, Laura had played 31 games for England. She was part of the England squad for the netball event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Laura was also a key player when England finished second at the 2023 Netball World Cup.

About Laura's Life

Laura Malcolm also runs her own netball coaching business called Maias Netball. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she taught many netball sessions online. She believes it is important to judge people based on their skills and character. Laura's father passed away in 2013.
