Lauren Hunter MacMullan is a super talented American director who brings animated movies and TV shows to life! She was born on April 30, 1964. She has worked on many famous shows you might know, like The Simpsons and Avatar: The Last Airbender. She even directed a special short film for Disney that starred Mickey Mouse!

About Lauren MacMullan
Early Life and Education
Lauren MacMullan grew up in Pennsylvania, in towns like Havertown and Swarthmore. She finished high school in Swarthmore in 1982. After that, she went to Harvard University. While at Harvard, she was part of the staff for the Harvard Lampoon, which is a humor magazine.
Starting Her Animation Career
Lauren's first big job in TV was on a show called The Critic. She directed an episode that featured famous movie critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert. After that, she directed episodes for King of the Hill. She then became a supervising director and designer for a show called Mission Hill.
Directing Popular TV Shows
After Mission Hill finished, Lauren joined the team at The Simpsons. She directed episodes for three seasons of this very popular show. She also directed several episodes of the amazing animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. For her work on Avatar, she won an Annie Award for her storyboarding. Storyboarding is like drawing a comic book version of the show before it's animated.
Working with Disney and Pixar
Lauren MacMullan also worked on The Simpsons Movie as a sequence director. In 2009, she was part of the Pixar team. She worked on an animated film called Newt, but that movie was later canceled.
Currently, Lauren works at Walt Disney Animation Studios. She helped create the storyboards for popular movies like Wreck-It Ralph and Zootopia.
Making History with Get a Horse!
In 2013, Lauren directed an Oscar-nominated animated short film called Get a Horse!. This film was very special because it featured Mickey Mouse! With Get a Horse!, Lauren MacMullan made history. She became the first woman to be the only director of a Disney animated film. This includes both short films and full-length movies.
