Lauren Paige Nelson was born on November 26, 1986. She is from Lawton, Oklahoma. Lauren is famous for winning the Miss America title in 2007. She was the second person in a row from Oklahoma to win this big award. She was also the sixth Miss America from Oklahoma ever!

Early Life and School
Lauren went to MacArthur High School in Lawton. After high school, she studied public relations at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Becoming a Pageant Star
Miss Teen Oklahoma 2004
Before becoming Miss America, Lauren was crowned Miss Teen Oklahoma in 2004. As Miss Teen Oklahoma, she even performed at the 2005 Miss America pageant!
Miss Oklahoma 2006
In 2006, Lauren won a local title called Miss Oklahoma State Fair. Then, she competed in the Miss Oklahoma pageant. On June 11, 2006, she won the Miss Oklahoma title. She received a scholarship worth $16,000. At 19 years old, she was the youngest person to become Miss Oklahoma.
Miss America 2007
Lauren then represented Oklahoma in the Miss America 2007 pageant. This event was shown on CMT on January 29, 2007. She won an award for her swimsuit in a preliminary round. This was the first time someone from Oklahoma won that award since 1955! For the talent part, she sang a song. Her special cause, or "platform," was "Be NetSmart – Protecting Kids Online." This was about helping kids stay safe when using the internet.
At the end of the show, Lauren Nelson was crowned Miss America 2007. She won against Miss Texas 2006, Shilah Phillips, who was the first runner-up. Lauren received a $50,000 scholarship along with the title. She took over from Jennifer Berry, who was also from Oklahoma. This was only the second time in history that two winners in a row came from the same state!
Lauren's Family Life
On October 24, 2009, Lauren married Randy Faram. He was a student minister. Lauren and Randy have two children. Their son, Mason, was born in October 2013. Their daughter, Dawson Paige, was born in March 2016.
Other Activities
Lauren has been involved in several interesting projects.
In 2007, she worked with John Walsh on the TV show America's Most Wanted. She helped them in a special way to find people who might harm children online.
On January 17, 2008, Lauren appeared on the game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? She played for the Miss America Organization. She won $175,000 before deciding to stop playing.
On August 2, 2010, Lauren became a news anchor at KWTV in Oklahoma City. This TV station is a CBS affiliate. She co-anchored the 4 P.M. newscast, which was changed to focus more on lifestyle topics.
