On March 6, 2017, when she was 22 years old, Lauren made history. She became the youngest and only full-time female trader at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The NYSE is a very important place where stocks are traded. She was also the second African American woman to hold such a job in the NYSE's long history. Lauren left her job on Wall Street in December 2018.

In 2018, Ebony magazine included her on their Power 100 list. She was also named a "Woman of Impact" by Politico that same year. Some people have called her the "Wolfette of Wall Street" because of her work in finance.

Early Life and Education

Lauren Simmons grew up in Marietta, Georgia. She went to Kennesaw State University and earned a degree in genetics in 2016. She had planned to work as a genetic counselor, which helps people understand their genes.

However, Lauren decided to move to New York City instead. There, she met a person named Richard Rosenblatt through networking. Networking means meeting people who can help you with your career.

Career Highlights

Lauren Simmons became well-known in 2017 when she was 22. She started working at Rosenblatt Securities as a trader. This made her the youngest and only woman trader at the New York Stock Exchange. She was also the second African American woman to ever have this job.

As a full-time stock trader, she earned about $12,000 each year. She left this job in December 2018. One reason she left was that she felt left out by her coworkers after she started getting a lot of attention from the news. Lauren now speaks out about how important it is for the financial world to have more different kinds of people working in it. This is called increasing diversity and inclusion.

Podcasting and Web Series

In September 2021, Lauren started her own podcast called Mind, Body, Wealth. She hosted this show until December 2022. In February 2022, the podcast changed its name to Money Moves and became a special show for Spotify.

Lauren hosted the first season of the show, which had ten episodes. These episodes aired from January 18, 2022, to March 23, 2022. In 2024, Baron Davis took over as the host for the show's second season.
