About Lauren St John's Life and Books
Lauren St John was born in December 1966. Her birthplace was Gatooma, Rhodesia. This city is now called Kadoma, Zimbabwe. When she was eleven, her family moved. They went to a nature reserve called Rainbow End's farm in Gadzema.
This special farm later became the focus of her memoir. A memoir is a book about a person's own life. Many of her children's books are inspired by her time there. She grew up surrounded by nature and animals.
After studying journalism in Harare, Lauren St John moved to London. For almost ten years, she worked as a golf correspondent. This means she wrote articles about golf for The Sunday Times newspaper.
Awards and Detective Stories
In 2011, Lauren St John won a big award. She received the Blue Peter Book of the Year Award. This was for her book Dead Man's Cove. The story is about an eleven-year-old girl named Laura Marlin. Laura becomes a detective and solves mysteries.
Dead Man's Cove is the first book in a series. It was also considered for a Galaxy National Book Award. This award was for Children's Book of the Year. In 2016, a TV company bought the rights to make it into a show.
Helping Wildlife
