This amazing book tells the story of a girl named Martine. She has to move to an African game reserve. This happens after her parents pass away in a house fire. Martine goes to live with her grandmother in Africa.
The Story's Inspiration
Lauren St. John, the author, chose a giraffe for her story. She always dreamed of riding one. When she was a child, Lauren lived in Zimbabwe, Africa. She even owned several wild animals herself. One of these animals was a giraffe. This personal experience helped her write such a wonderful story.
