Laurent Garnier (born February 1, 1966) is a famous French electronic music artist. He is known as a DJ and a music producer. He also uses the names Choice and DJ Pedro. Laurent Garnier started his music journey in the late 1980s in Manchester, England. He began producing his own music in the early 1990s and has released many albums.

Laurent Garnier's Early Life and Music Start
In 1984, Laurent Garnier worked as a waiter in London. He started playing music with another DJ at a French club. After about a year and a half, he moved to Manchester in 1986.
Living in England, he discovered the exciting new music scene called "house music." This type of electronic dance music was becoming very popular. Laurent Garnier started DJing in clubs, including the famous The Haçienda.

Becoming a DJ
In 1987, Laurent Garnier found The Haçienda club in Manchester. He met Mike Pickering, who was a DJ there. New music styles like Chicago house and Detroit techno were becoming popular. Garnier started mixing these songs at the club, using the name DJ Pedro.
In 1988, he returned to France for his military service. He also spent some time in New York City, where he met another famous DJ, Frankie Knuckles.
Producing His Own Music
In the early 1990s, Laurent Garnier focused on the music scene in France. He organized popular parties called "Wake Up" at the Rex Club in Paris for three years. He also played music in other clubs and at large dance parties called raves.
Slowly, he started making his own music. He released his first songs with the FNAC label. When that label closed, he started his own music label called F Communications with his friend Eric Morand.
Releasing Albums
Laurent Garnier released his first album, Shot in the Dark, in 1995. His second album, 30, came out in 1997. This album included one of his most popular songs, "Crispy Bacon."
After traveling and performing around the world, Garnier released another album called Unreasonable Behaviour in 2000. This album featured one of his most well-known songs, "The Man with the Red Face." He has continued to release new music and perform for many years. His latest album, 33 tours et puis s'en vont, was released in 2023.
