How Lava Cola Was Created
The idea for this unique cola started in 2009. An Australian man named James Armitage developed a thick, water-based liquid from kava. He then talked to Vanuatu Beverage, suggesting they mix this kava liquid with cola.
Making the Drink
The kava liquid is carefully added to the cola. For every 330 millilitre bottle of cola, about 15 millilitres of the kava syrup is used. Lava Cola is now made in a factory located just outside Port Vila. Port Vila is the capital city of Vanuatu. The drink first started being produced for people in Vanuatu in October 2009.
