Lavaca (i/ləˈvɑːkə/ lə-VAH-kə) is a city located in Sebastian County, Arkansas, in the United States. It's part of the larger Fort Smith area, which includes parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma. Lavaca officially became a city in 1919.

The main public school system in Lavaca is the Lavaca School District. This district provides education for students from early childhood all the way through high school. Students graduate from Lavaca High School.
Lavaca High School was recognized as a "Bronze Medalist" in the "Best High Schools Report" in 2012. This report was put together by U.S. News & World Report.
The school district has also built new facilities for its high school, middle school, and elementary schools. In 2010, the Lavaca Performing Arts Center was finished at Lavaca High School. This center is also used by the city for community events.
Public Library
The Scott Sebastian Regional Library system helps keep the Lavaca Branch Library running. This library is a great place to find books, magazines, newspapers, and other media for everyone in the community.
