Lawrence is a small, quiet place in Emery County, Utah, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it's a neighborhood or village that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
A Look Back in Time
Lawrence got its start around 1883. It was founded as a farming community by members of the Mormon faith. For many years, Lawrence had its own post office, where people could send and receive mail, and a church building for religious gatherings.
How Lawrence Got Its Name
This community was named after a person named Lawrence Staker. Sometimes, people even called the area "Stakerville" because of him! Sadly, the original church building was taken down in the 1950s.
