Lawrence Cook (born May 7, 1930 – died December 27, 2003) was an American actor. He was known for his roles in several movies and TV shows. He often played strong characters during his career from 1970 to 1993.

Lawrence Cook's Famous Movie Roles

Lawrence Cook is perhaps best known for his main role in the 1973 movie The Spook Who Sat by the Door. In this film, he played a character named Dan Freeman. Dan Freeman was trained by the CIA. He later used his skills to help train and lead a group of black freedom fighters. They worked to improve their community. The movie was based on a 1969 novel by Sam Greenlee.

Other Movies and TV Shows

Before his big role in The Spook Who Sat by the Door, Cook appeared in other films. These included Cotton Comes to Harlem (1970) and Trouble Man (1972).

After Spook, he continued acting in movies like Colors (1988) and Posse (1993). He also appeared in many popular television series. Some of these were Family Matters, The Mod Squad, Columbo, and McMillan & Wife. From 1975 to 1976, he played Paul Grant on the daytime soap opera Days Of Our Lives.

Lawrence Cook's Final Years

Lawrence Cook passed away in 2003 in Marina del Rey, California. He was laid to rest in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.
