Lawrence Edward Roberts III, born on October 20, 1982, is an American who used to play professional basketball. He was a tall player, standing at 6 feet 9 inches, and played as a power forward.

College Basketball Journey
Lawrence Roberts started his college basketball career at Baylor University. He played there for two seasons. During his time at Baylor, he was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.
Moving to Mississippi State
In 2003, Lawrence decided to transfer to Mississippi State University. This move happened after some issues with the basketball program at Baylor. At Mississippi State, he really shined as a player.
In the 2003–04 season, he was named a first-team All-American. He also won the award for SEC Player of the Year. He helped lead Mississippi State to a top-two spot in the NCAA tournament for the first time ever. That season, he averaged 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
Amazing Achievements
Lawrence continued to play well in the 2004–05 season. He averaged 16.9 points and 11 rebounds. He even made history for Mississippi State by getting their first-ever triple-double. This means he had double-digit numbers in three different stats in one game. He achieved this with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists. He did this while wearing a special face mask to protect a broken nose!
Professional Basketball Career
Lawrence Roberts became a professional basketball player in 2005. He was chosen by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2005 NBA draft. He was the 55th player picked overall.
Playing in the NBA
After being drafted, Lawrence was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. He signed his first professional contract with them on July 10, 2005. He played for the Grizzlies for two seasons.
Adventures in Europe
In July 2007, Lawrence decided to move to Europe to continue his basketball career. He signed a two-year deal with a big Greek team called Olympiacos. However, he left the team before the season began in October 2007.
After some time without a club, Lawrence joined the Serbian team KK Crvena zvezda on September 17, 2008. He played there for one year.
Return to the NBA (Briefly) and Back to Europe
On September 25, 2009, Lawrence signed with the Indiana Pacers for their training camp. But he was released less than a month later, on October 19, 2009.
Just two days later, on October 21, 2009, Lawrence signed a one-year contract with another Serbian team, KK Partizan. This was a very successful time for him!
Winning with Partizan
With Partizan, Lawrence won several championships in 2010:
- The Basketball League of Serbia championship.
- The ABA League championship.
- The Radivoj Korać Cup.
His team also reached the Final Four of the Euroleague in Paris, finishing in 4th place.
More European Teams
After his time with Partizan, Lawrence continued to play for various teams in Europe:
- In July 2010, he signed with the Turkish team Efes Pilsen.
- On July 12, 2011, he joined BC Lietuvos rytas.
- In July 2012, he signed with Bayern Munich.
- In October 2013, he moved to Darüşşafaka in Turkey.
- On October 2, 2014, Lawrence signed with BCM Gravelines in France. He left the team on February 4, 2015, for personal reasons. He retired from professional basketball in 2015.
Family Life
Lawrence Roberts comes from a family with some well-known members. He is the son of Lawrence E. "Butch" Jr. and Cynthia Roberts. His aunt is Robin Roberts, a famous sportscaster and host of Good Morning America. His grandparents were the late Col. Lawrence E. Roberts Sr. and Lucimarian Roberts.
