Lawrencetown is a small village located in Annapolis County. It is found in the beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, Canada. This village was first settled in 1760. It was named after Charles Lawrence, who was the governor of Nova Scotia at the time. In 2021, about 636 people lived in Lawrencetown. This was a good increase in population from five years before.

Schools and Learning

Lawrencetown is a place where students can learn and grow. It has the Lawrencetown Consolidated School. This school teaches children from primary grades up to grade five.

The village is also home to a special college branch. It is called the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS). COGS is part of the Nova Scotia Community College system. It offers programs in mapping and geographic information.

Fun Events and Community Spirit

Lawrencetown hosts a big event every year called the Annapolis Valley Exhibition. This event has been held since 1927. It takes place at the Lawrencetown Exhibition Grounds. It is a week-long celebration of agriculture and community.

In 2010, Lawrencetown was chosen for a special honor. It was nominated as one of the top 12 towns for Kraft Hockeyville. This competition looks for towns that love hockey. Lawrencetown represented eastern Canada in the wildcard category. On March 27, 2010, it was announced on CBC Hockey Night In Canada that Lawrencetown made it into the top five towns!
