Lawson Vaughn is a former American soccer player. He was born on April 11, 1984, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Vaughn played as a defender during his career. He played college soccer before becoming a professional player in Major League Soccer (MLS).
Lawson Vaughn's Soccer Journey
College Soccer Days
Lawson Vaughn attended Lassiter High School in Marietta, GA. He started his college soccer career at the University of South Carolina. He played there from 2002 to 2003. During these two seasons, he played in 34 matches. He scored one goal and helped set up three others.
In 2004, Vaughn moved to the University of Tulsa. He played for their soccer team for two seasons. He appeared in 43 matches, scoring three goals. He also made seven assists for his teammates.
Playing Professionally
After college, Lawson Vaughn was chosen in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft. This is a special draft where professional soccer teams pick players. He was the 25th player picked overall by C.D. Chivas USA.
Vaughn played for Chivas USA until August 2009. He then signed with another MLS team, D.C. United, on September 11, 2009. He played a few matches for D.C. United. However, he was released by the club in March 2010. After this, Lawson Vaughn retired from playing professional soccer.
