How Lay's Stax Are Different from Pringles
Lay's Stax and Pringles are both stacked chips, but they have some key differences.
Chip Shape and Flavor
Lay's Stax chips are usually heavier and thicker than Pringles. The shape of a Stax chip is a simple curve. Pringles, however, have a more complex double-curved shape. When it comes to flavor, Lay's Stax have their seasoning on the inside curve of the chip. Pringles have their flavor on the outside curve.
Packaging Differences
Lay's Stax chips come in plastic containers. Pringles are sold in cans made from cardboard and aluminum. In the UK, Lay's Stax are sold under the Walkers brand and come in cans made entirely of cardboard. In China, Stax are packaged similarly to Pringles in America, and the chips inside the can are also placed in smaller plastic containers.
Different Names Around the World
Even though Lay's Stax are known by that name in many places, they have different names in some countries.
Since late 2006, Lay's Stax have been sold in Brazil as "Elma Chips Stax". Elma Chips is a Brazilian company that is also part of PepsiCo. However, the yellow lids on these cans still show the Lay's Stax brand name, just like in most other parts of the world.
