Lay's Stax are a popular type of potato chip snack. They are made by Frito-Lay, which is a company owned by PepsiCo. Lay's Stax were first introduced in 2003. They were created to compete with another well-known chip brand called Pringles.

What Makes Stax Different?

Lay's Stax chips are a bit different from Pringles in a few ways. Stax chips are usually heavier and thicker. This gives them a different feel when you eat them.

Chip Shape and Flavor

The shape of a Stax chip is a simple curve. Think of it like a single arch. Pringles, however, have a double-curved shape. This means they curve in two directions at once. Also, the flavor on Stax chips is mostly on the inside curve. For Pringles, the flavor is usually on the outside curve.

Packaging Differences

Lay's Stax chips come in plastic containers. Pringles are sold in containers made from cardboard and aluminum. In some countries, like China, Stax are packaged very much like Pringles are in America. The chips inside these cans are also put into smaller plastic containers.

How Stax Are Branded Around the World

While Lay's Stax are known by that name in many places, their name can change in different countries. This is called rebranding.

Stax in Brazil

Since late 2006, Lay's Stax have been sold in Brazil under a different name. They are called "Elma Chips Stax" there. Elma Chips is a part of the PepsiCo company in Brazil. Even with the different name, the yellow lids on the cans still say "Lay's Stax."
