LCL S.A. is a big French bank. It is part of a larger group called Crédit Agricole. LCL's main office is in Lyon, France. Its administrative head office is in Paris.
LCL was started in 2005. It took over from an older bank called Crédit Lyonnais. The name LCL comes from "Le Crédit Lyonnais". In 2005, LCL helped about 6 million customers. It had 2,000 branches across France.
Sponsoring the Tour de France
LCL is famous for sponsoring the Tour de France. This is a very big bicycle race. LCL sponsors the yellow jersey. This special jersey is worn by the leader of the race.
Each day, the winner of a stage gets a toy lion. This toy is called le lion en peluche. It is a fun way to play on the bank's name. The bank's older name, Crédit Lyonnais, first sponsored the Tour in 1981. They have sponsored the yellow jersey since 1987.
