The Story of Ledo Pizza
The very first Ledo Pizza restaurant opened in 1955. It was located in Adelphi, Maryland. This original spot was in the Adelphi Shopping Center. It was also close to the University of Maryland, College Park.
In 1979, Ledo Pizza started letting other restaurants use its name. This is called a franchise. The first franchise was the Fireside Restaurant in Berwyn Heights, Maryland. Today, there are over 100 Ledo Pizza restaurants. You can find them in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. They are also in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, New York City, and Washington, D.C.
The original Ledo restaurant moved in 2010. It went to downtown College Park, Maryland. The old location closed in July 2010. The new one opened in August 2010. This College Park restaurant later closed in November 2020. But it reopened a year later as a Ledo franchise.
In February 2024, Ledo Pizza made a special deal. They became a sponsor for the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. This agreement will last for several years.
Ledo Pizza in the Spotlight
Ledo Pizza has received many awards and mentions. In 2019, it was ranked #31 on the Pizza Today Top 100 Companies list. This list looks at the biggest pizza companies. Ledo Pizza had sales of $120,000,000 in 2018. This came from its 106 restaurants at the time.
Ledo Pizza was also named one of the best pizzas in America. This happened on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
