The area was first officially mapped out in 1877. It was named "Lemen Station" after a person named Abraham Lemen, who helped plan the community.

  • "Lemons Station"
  • "Lemonville"

The Post Office and Its Journey

A post office is a very important part of any community, allowing people to send and receive mail. The post office in Lemons also went through several name changes:

  • It first opened in 1876 with the name "Lemen".
  • Later in 1876, its name was changed to "Lemon Station".
  • It closed for a short time in 1878.
  • When it reopened in 1879, it was called "Xenia".
  • In 1898, the name changed again to "Lemonville".
  • Finally, in 1915, it became "Lemons", which is the name we know today.
  • The post office in Lemons officially closed for good in 1975.
