Early Songs and First Hits

Lena's first song was called "You Come from Earth". It came out in July 1993. At first, her music was just released under the name 'Lena'. Many people thought this song would be very popular. It was even put on a famous music collection album called Now That's What I Call Music 25. The album even said the song was "chart-bound," meaning it was expected to be a hit.

However, "You Come from Earth" didn't do as well as expected. It reached number 69 on the UK Singles Chart. Even though it was played on BBC Radio 1, it didn't climb higher.

Lena's second song, "Gotta Get It Right", was released in November 1993. This time, her full name, Lena Fiagbe, was used. This song became a much bigger success! It entered the UK top 40 and then went even higher, reaching number 20. This was a great achievement for Lena. "Gotta Get It Right" was also featured on another NOW album, Now That's What I Call Music 26.

Her Album and Other Songs

Both of Lena's first two singles were part of her first album, called Visions. This album came out in 1994 on Mother Records. Music critics from all over the world really liked it.

The album Visions also included other songs that were released as singles:

  • The album's title song, "Visions", was also released as a single and reached number 48 in June 1994.
  • "Is It Because" was the fifth and final song released from the album. It reached number 87 in November.

Besides her own songs, Lena also sang a cover version of "Can't Smile Without You" by Barry Manilow. This song was included on the soundtrack album for the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral.

In 1996, Lena worked with another artist named Wasis Diop. She sang on his song "African Dream". This song was a small hit, reaching number 44 in the UK Singles Chart. "African Dream" was the last song Lena had that appeared on the music charts.
