Lenape is a small place in Pocopson Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger township. Lenape is located where Pennsylvania Route 52 and Pocopson Road meet, just west of the Brandywine Creek.

History

The community of Lenape got its name from the Lenape Indians. These were Native American people who lived in this area long ago.

A post office was opened in Lenape in 1870. It helped people send and receive mail. However, the post office closed down in 1923. Even though the post office is gone, the name Lenape still reminds people of the area's rich history and the Native American people who once lived there.
