Lennep is a small, quiet place in Meagher County, Montana, United States. It's known as a ghost town, which means it was once a busy community but now has very few people living there. Even though it's quiet, Lennep still has a few buildings standing, like a church and some old stores, showing what life was like long ago.

Life in Lennep Today
Lennep is a very small community now. It still has an active Lutheran church where people can worship. As of 2023, only three houses in Lennep are lived in.
Historic Buildings
Many buildings from Lennep's past are still standing, but they are no longer used. These include a two-story general store that also served as the post office. There's also an old school building that taught students from kindergarten to eighth grade.
Location and Scenery
Lennep is located at the bottom of the Castle Mountains. From the town, you can see the northern part of the Crazy Mountains. Lennep sits in a valley that divides these two mountain ranges. The South Fork of the Musselshell River flows through this valley.
Railroad History
Lennep was once a station on the Old Milwaukee Road, a famous railroad line. Even though the train tracks were removed over 30 years ago, you can still see a trackside signal along Jawbone Road. This signal is a reminder of the trains that once passed through Lennep.
The Old Post Office
The Lennep Mercantile was a general store that opened in 1914. It also housed the town's post office. Before that, the post office first opened in 1903 in a log home across the street. The post office in Lennep closed down in 1962.
Lennep as a Tourist Spot
Today, Lennep is a quiet place that tourists sometimes visit. Many of its old buildings are still in good shape, including the church, the school, and the general store. These buildings offer a glimpse into the past.
Wildlife and Surroundings
Lennep is surrounded by large fields where beef cattle graze and hay is grown. Many wild animals visit the area, including deer, moose, and cougars. You might also spot skunks, porcupines, raccoons, beavers, rabbits, hares, and hawks. There are still working ranches and homes in the areas around Lennep.
