Leo, West Virginia facts for kids
Leo was once a small town in Roane County, West Virginia. Today, it is known as a "ghost town" because no one lives there anymore. It's like a town that disappeared from the map!
The Story of Leo
Leo had an interesting past with a few different names. It was first known as Pratt. A post office opened there in 1888 under this name.
In 1901, the town's name changed to Leo. This new name was special because it was chosen after a local girl. Imagine a town named after you!
Later, in 1925, the name changed again to Lonewillow. However, the post office eventually closed in 1936. Over time, people moved away, and Leo became the ghost town we know today.
