Early Life and Learning
Leo grew up in Tuam, a town in County Galway, Ireland. He went to University College Galway. There, he studied French and Sociology. After his university studies, he trained to become a secondary school teacher.
While at university, Leo met important people in the local music world. These included Padraig Boran and Ollie Jennings. Ollie Jennings later became the manager for The Saw Doctors. Leo also played in a local reggae band called Too Much For The White Man.
Musical Journey and The Saw Doctors
Leo Moran's musical journey truly took off when he formed The Saw Doctors. He started the band with Davy Carton, who was from another band called Blaze X. The Saw Doctors quickly became very popular. They are known for their lively folk rock music.
In June 2013, Leo started a new country rock band. This group was called 'The Cabin Collective'. It showed his interest in different music styles.
From late 2013 into early 2014, The Saw Doctors took a break from touring and recording. During this time, Leo continued to play music. He toured with Anthony Thistlethwaite as a duo. They performed under the name Leo & Anto.

Leo Moran lives in Tuam, his hometown. He shares his home with his partner, Eleanor. Eleanor comes from the famous Joyce family, who are also well-known musicians.
