Leola is a special kind of community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population, but it's not an official city or town with its own local government.
Leola includes a few smaller areas like Leacock and Bareville. Before 2010, this whole area was known by a longer name: Leacock-Leola-Bareville. The name "Leola" comes from combining "Leacock" and "Glenola," which was the name of a train station that used to be there. The area was first called "Mechanicsburg."
