Leonard ("Leo") Myles-Mills is a former athlete from Ghana. He was born on May 9, 1973, in Accra. Leo was a specialist in the 100 metres sprint. He made history by becoming the first Ghanaian to run the 100 metres in under 10 seconds.
His fastest time in the 100 metres was 9.98 seconds, which he achieved in 1998. This was a Ghanaian record for many years. He also holds the African record for the 60 metres sprint indoors, with a time of 6.45 seconds.

Early Life and College Career
Leo Myles-Mills attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in the United States. While at BYU, he was a very successful college athlete. He won the NCAA Men's 100 m dash championship twice. This shows he was one of the best college sprinters in the country.
Leo's brother, John Myles-Mills, was also a sprint athlete.
Major Achievements and Records
Leo Myles-Mills won several important medals during his career.
- He earned a gold medal at the 1999 All-Africa Games in the 100 metres.
- He won a bronze medal at the 2003 All-Africa Games, also in the 100 metres.
- He also took home a bronze medal at the 1998 African Championships.
In 1999, he set a new African indoor record for the 60 metres with his impressive time of 6.45 seconds. His Ghanaian record in the 100 metres (9.98 seconds) stood until 2021. That's when another Ghanaian runner, Benjamin Azamati, ran 9.97 seconds.
Olympic Games Participation
Leo Myles-Mills represented Ghana at the Summer Olympics two times. He also competed in the Commonwealth Games.
At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, he performed very well.
- He finished third in his first 100 metres race, which helped him move on to the next round.
- In the second round, he again placed third, improving his time and reaching the semi-finals.
- In the semi-final race, he finished sixth. This meant he did not qualify for the final race, but it was still a great achievement to reach that stage.
