Over the centuries, the number of people living in Leontica changed. For example, in 1602, there were 315 inhabitants. By 1850, the population had grown to 473 people.

However, like many small villages, the population later saw some declines. By the year 2000, about 267 people called Leontica home.

Joining Forces: The Acquarossa Merger

In 2004, something big happened for Leontica. It joined together with eight other nearby municipalities to create a brand new, larger municipality. This new area is called Acquarossa.

The villages that merged with Leontica were Castro, Corzoneso, Dongio, Largario, Lottigna, Marolta, Ponto Valentino, and Prugiasco. This merger helped these communities work together more effectively.
